Less waiting, more ways to ride: Logan’s transport changes

Missing a peak-hour train is about to become less painful for Logan commuters, with gaps between Beenleigh-line peak services set to halve.

From Monday, October 12, trains are scheduled every 15 minutes during morning and afternoon peaks.

Queensland Rail head of corporate affairs Nev Conway welcomed the partial restoration.

“We understand the reduced timetable was inconvenient, and we are so pleased to be getting back to 91% of full operations,” Mr Conway said.

“We appreciate the ongoing patience of our customers over the last few months while we navigated these challenges.”

Queensland Rail highlights 417 weekly services return across south-east Queensland from Monday 12 October as it clears a maintenance backlog following industrial action.

Full timetable restoration is expected by November’s end.

At Yarrabilba, a permanent 50-cent on-demand service, operated by Logan Coaches, began on Monday 21 September.

“The service is expected to benefit more than 15,000 Yarrabilba residents by improving accessibility, connectivity and overall convenience,” Translink outlined in its announcement.

Transport Minister Brent Mickelberg highlighted connections beyond the suburb when he announced the service in January.

“By delivering a new On Demand Transport service for Yarrabilba, we are connecting residents with essential community services, and onwards public transport options,” Mr Mickelberg said.

Trips connect pickup points within Yarrabilba’s service area with Yarrabilba Drive shops, The Buzz and Dixon Circuit shops.

Route 587 connections reach Loganlea station, Logan Hospital and Loganlea TAFE.

Hours are 5am–10pm weekdays, 6am–10pm Saturdays and 7am–9pm Sundays and public holidays.

Book both directions through the Translink On Demand app, online or on 13 12 30. It is cashless, with designated pickups rather than front-door collection.

Meanwhile, from October 6, route 555’s Logan-bound Brisbane boarding point moved 30m from Adelaide Street stop 39 to stop 40. Timetables are unchanged.

More October travel changes

17–18 October: Buses replace trains between Beenleigh and Varsity Lakes.

26–27 October from 9.30pm each night: Beenleigh and Gold Coast trains divert via the Tennyson loop, bypassing several inner-city stops. Replacement buses serve affected stations.
