More than 40 golf “legends” have descended on Logan for an official PGA Legends Tour Pro-Am Series competition at Meadowbrook Golf Club.
The event featured some of the most memorable players from the 1990s and early 2000s, says Meadowbrook golf professional Darren Rodgers.
“It’s a tour for golf pros over the age of 50, so you’ve got plenty of guys who have played on the main Australasian tour,” Mr Rodgers said.
“It’s a blast from the past – they’re all players who have been featured on TV playing around the world.
“We’ve got players like Brad Burns, Tim Elliott, Terry Price, Denis Brosnan, Richard Backwell, David Diaz, and Todd Power.”
Mr Rodgers said it would be a great game for spectators, with several vantage points on the course.
“The golf course is always open to spectators, so this is an open, free event for spectators to come and watch.” he said.
“Obviously safety is paramount – we don’t want people coming out marching down the middle of fairway to watch, but they can certainly watch from the clubhouse or go behind the greens and walk down the sides.
“There are plenty of trees and there’s plenty of shade out here, but there’s probably no better vantage spot than just sitting in the Alfresco area because you get to watch three holes of golf being played from the one spot.”
The pro players in the competition are fighting for a $12,500 prize purse, while the amateurs can win a range of prizes.
