Learn to identify Glossy Black Cockatoos ahead of May survey

Volunteer-run conservationist group Friends of Plunkett will host a beginner-friendly Glossy Black Cockatoo identification workshop at Cedar Creek ahead of BirdLife Australia’s Great Glossy Count in May.

The 30-minute session starts at 9am on Sunday, 3 May at the end of Flesser Road and will show participants how to distinguish the threatened species from similar birds and spot signs of their presence.

A regeneration working bee will follow from 10am.

Organisers encourage those joining the May 17 survey to attend.

Participants should bring a notebook, phone, sun protection and water, along with basic gardening gear for the working bee.
