In a council statement released Tuesday, residents have been given just five days to comment on a “greenprint” which has been designed with the intention of creating a more sustainable future for the city.
Feedback closed Sunday.
The climate change resilience strategy looks at the next 10 years and aims to make Logan carbon neutral.
“This is an important part of council’s long-term plan to build climate change resilience and encourage everyone to provide feedback on the strategy,” deputy mayor Jon Raven said.
Council has installed more than 1000 kilowatts (kW) of solar photovoltaic panels on Council-owned buildings.
The combined power generation is expected to save an estimated $200,000 a year in electricity costs and reduce CO2 emissions by more than 1150 tonnes annually.
“Our support of the renewables industry is also creating jobs in Logan,” Cr Raven said.
“To achieve our vision of becoming carbon neutral, we must improve our knowledge of climate change and having community input is vital to this strategy’s success.”
