It’s show time in Beenleigh

The thrills of sideshow alley, the aroma of dagwood dogs, and the excitement of live entertainment will take centre stage as the 145th Beenleigh Show returns on Saturday, 8 March.

The annual event promises a full day of entertainment, bringing back classic attractions such as rides, food stalls, live performances, and the ever-popular sideshow alley.

Visitors can also look forward to a range of competitions, including spinning and weaving, old collectables and bush poetry.

This year’s line up of attractions is expected to wow audiences and the Beenleigh Show Society President Annette Mundt is eager to see locals streaming through the gates.

“We are really excited to see everyone come to the show and have a really fun day,” she said.

“The Show Society has been working really hard putting everything into place and we’re proud of what we have achieved this year.”

This marks the first year the Beenleigh Show will be held in March instead of its traditional September date.

Mrs Mundt previously stated that the move allows the event to align better with the school term and Easter holidays.

One of the major highlights this year is the debut of the high-octane Aussie FMX team, led by rider and team manager Brodie Carmichael.

The team is set to perform some of the biggest stunts in freestyle motocross.

Among the many tricks on display will be the crowd-thrilling ‘One Up’ challenge, where one rider performs an upright trick while the following rider must replicate it upside down.

However, the show-stopping moment will be the ‘Riders of the Night’ segment, a performance done in complete darkness with the riders and bikes illuminated by LED lights.

“Our riders need to turn off their eyes and tune into the feel of the engine and the bike because your speed perception changes,” Mr Carmichael said.

“It is very high risk, but very high reward.”

Other attractions include Viv’s Animal Farm, offering bottle-feeding sessions at 9am and 5:30pm, along with petting and cuddling opportunities throughout the day.

Precision Reptiles will host venomous snake shows, while Ashton’s Circus will feature three outdoor performances and three interactive workshops.

With Cyclone Alfred forming off the coast, weather conditions could play a role in the show’s success.

While Mrs Mundt is confident the event will go ahead as planned, visitors are encouraged to stay updated on any potential changes.

“We will certainly try to run the show, but on Wednesday we will see where the cyclone is, how it is tracking and how much rain or damage is predicted,” she said.

“It all depends how the grounds are coping with the rain. At this stage, all I can really say is we are monitoring it and to keep up to date on our Facebook page for notifications.”

For those planning to attend, ticket prices are as follows: A family pass for two adults and three children costs $35, while individual adult tickets are $15 and children’s tickets (ages 5-12) are $5.

Unlimited ride passes are available for $40, with parking set at $5.
