It’s the time of year when golfers get the chance to hone their handicap for a good cause and amateurs dust off their clubs for an annual hack around the local course.
There are two charity golf days on the immediate horizon.
The first, on September 3, is the Logan City Charity Golf Day at Meadowbrook Golf Club, teeing off around 9am.
The day is organised by the Logan Chamber of Commerce, and a business breakfast traditionally kicks off the day’s events. Profits from the day support Substation 33.
“Last year we managed to raise $10,000 and, with your help, we want to beat this amazing total in 2021,” president Stewart Fleming said.
“The money raised pays for recycled computers to be given to families in Logan where home schooling is not an option, as they don’t have a computer.”
The second, on September 10, is at Carbrook Golf Club and is to support Kingston East Neighbourhood Group, and tees off at 12.30pm.
This is the neighourhood group’s biggest event for the year, and it’s biggest fundraiser.
Both days are similarly ambrose format, and drinks are available to buy throughout the day.
They are open to players of all abilities.
Registration for the Meadowbrook day is $120, while the Carbrook event is $100, including golf cart hire, lunch and the game.
