The first semester of 2023 was eventful for the Emmaus College community.
We have had students achieving great things inside and outside the classroom as well representing the College with poise, pride, and excellence in a vast array of academic and sporting arenas.Â
Music is growing in popularity amongst Emmaus students.
This year we have had the largest number of students qualify for places in our primary Ukulele Club, as well as our largest student uptake of instrumental music programs.
We also have over 85 students across the early and junior years choirs, and many secondary student bands working hard to prepare for the Queensland Catholic Schools Music Festival in August.Â
For the last seven years, our Agriculture students have benefited from working with cattle on loan to the College from Lake Moogerah Droughtmasters.
This is an immersive experience for our students who get insight into what it takes to raise and show cattle. The cattle arrived at the College in late Term 1 and have been competed at many shows with very pleasing results.Â
Early in Term 2, our 17-member equestrian team secured the South East Queensland Champion Primary School trophy for the third consecutive year. Many team members qualified to compete at the Interschool Equestrian State Championships in June.Â
Emmaus College is proud to be in the top five of Brisbane Catholic Education schools for apprenticeship and traineeship uptakes.
This is a testament to the quality of collaborative work and relationship building between our Vocational Education team, Emmaus students and local employers.Â
We have a growing number of Years 10–12 students undertaking entry-level university courses or TAFE At School programs.
At university, our students are enjoying studies in fields such as environmental science, aerospace engineering and allied health, to name a few.
While in the traineeship and trades spaces, they are achieving great results in fields such as retail, plumbing, electrical and hospitality.
One of our Year 12 hospitality students is nominated for a QTIC Salute to Excellence Student of the Year (Culinary) Award.Â
All of Emmaus College’s curricular and cocurricular activities are designed to inspire learning by providing meaningful and relevant learning experiences that are connected to the lives of our young people.
In this way, we are helping students with their personal quest of developing new knowledge and skills, greater self-confidence, a personal and national identity, and an understanding of their role in a globalised world.
Emmaus College invites you to learn more about our school and programs at our next Open Day, happening on 16 August from 9am to 10.30am. To register your interest, please phone 5547 9990.Â
