Judges say the finalists of the 2024 Business Distinction Awards epitomise Logan City’s greatest qualities.
The finalists – spanning more than 20 categories, from construction to media – were today announced by the Logan Chamber of Commerce.
Local business leaders Aki Sihto and Paulette Oldfield are two of six judges who chose the finalists.
The winning businesses will be announced at an awards night in September.
Ms Oldfield said the finalists displayed both innovation and diversity.
“World-first technology is happening right here in Logan,” she said.
“The diverse culture that we have here brings an amazing level of skill from all over the world.
“It’s not just homegrown – people are bringing those skills and they are teaching our young people.”
Ms Oldfield is the director of the Mini Farm Project, and formerly worked in Logan City council’s city transformation team.
She said it was important to “put a spotlight” on innovative businesses.
“When you drive around Logan, you see big sheds, but you don’t know what’s happening in them,” Ms Oldfield said.
“The Logan Business Distinction Awards is important because it shines a light on those businesses.”
Mr Sihto, president of the Beenleigh Yatala Chamber of Commerce, said the calibre of businesses this year was outstanding.
“There were so many entries that drive strategy from location in Logan, and leverage the Logan community,” he said.
“I was amazed by the amount of innovation that goes on in Logan – new products, new services, new delivery methods.”
The awards night is on Friday 13 September at the Logan Entertainment Centre.
