A 1km exclusion zone is in place near Kuraby following a chemical spill on the Gateway Motorway.
The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) said the cleanup is expected to take several hours, with all motorists asked to avoid the area.
The spill occurred this morning following a truck rollover southbound on the motorway, near the Compton Road off ramp.
According to the QFD, crews are currently on scene working to “make the area safe and begin cleaning up the spill”.
“A one-kilometre exclusion zone is in place downwind of the incident while crews continue work to right the vehicle and clean up the spill,” a statement said.
“This is expected to take several hours.
“Motorists and pedestrians should avoid the area.”
Police said roads would be closed for several hours.
