As one of the country’s most diverse cities, Logan celebrates a rich and diverse Harmony Week.
This year’s theme is “everyone belongs” and starts on 18 March.
Harmony Week Celebrations & Morning Tea at Empathy Community Services
Empathy Community Services is hosting a morning tea to celebrate diversity and multiculturalism at 3/80 Wembley Rd, Logan Central on Friday 22 March.
The event will run from 10am-12pm, and include sharing stories, music, arts and crafts, food and fashion from different cultures.
The Logan District Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation for Elders will present a ‘Yarning with our mob’ story telling session on Saturday 23 March at Logan Central Library.
From 10.30am, Aunty Heather Castledine will speak about reconciliation in the community. Participants can make a friendship bracelet to celebrate the week.
Indian-bord teacher and artist Madhu Khanna will run a workshop on how to create a traditional Hindu lamp, known as a diya, at Logan West Library in Browns Plains on Saturday 23 March, from 10.30-11.30am.
Kids can celebrate with play and learn sessions and themed story time sessions hosted by First 5 Forever at multiple libraries.
Kids’ Club participants will be able to decorate photo frames during Harmony Week to display drawings or photos.
