Four guns were allegedly seized by police after a man was allegedly spotted holding a rifle in a backyard at Beenleigh.
The man was arrested and charged as part of a state-wide operation targeting gun safety and illicit firearms.
Police raided a Gona Street property on 20 January, according to a police statement, following reports of an allegedly armed man.
“With support from the Public Safety Response Team (PSRT), officers gained entry to the property and executed a search warrant, where, it will be alleged, they located four shortened firearms, two suppressors and a quantity of ammunition,” the statement read.
“Further investigations revealed three of the seized firearms had been reported stolen, with inquiries ongoing.”
A 42-year-old man was arrested and charged with eleven firearm and property offences.
He was refused police bail and remains in custody.
He is due to appear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 18 February.
This investigation forms part of a broader gun-possession crackdown dubbed Operation Whiskey Firestorm.
Police say the want to send a “clear message about the importance of proper firearm storage and the role licenced firearm owners play in ensuring community safety”.
In 2024, almost 3300 crimes in Queensland involved guns, including attempted murders, assaults, and robberies.
More than 1000 gun licenses were revoked state-wide that year.
“The QPS will be conducting extensive audits, coordinating regional operations, and working with licensed firearm owners to ensure they meet safety and ownership rules and regulations,” police said in a statement.
“Operation Whiskey Firestorm is also focusing on a coordinated state-wide response to the investigation, prevention and disruption activities involving illicit firearms offences and violent firearms related offending.”
