The Soroptimist International club in Logan are seeking new women to join their group.
The group defines “soroptimist” as “best sister” and their mission is to “empower and educate young girls and women”.
Rita Mattila, a member of the the club, said the Soroptimists try to “transform the lives of women and girls”.
“We’re really enthusiastic about supporting women,” she said.
The club meets several times a month for business meetings, casual breakfasts and guest speakers, and they also host fundraisers and community events.
With around 90,000 members worldwide in Soroptimist International, the Logan sect of the group is proud of their diversity.
“We represent a wide cross-section of women,” Ms Mattila said.
Beyond “raising awareness of women’s needs”, Ms Mattila said the group also holds flea markets and clothing events, where they promote sustainable clothing and recycling.
