Four charged in property crime offences

Police have released footage showing the moment they arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with more than 30 offences dating back to December.

The dramatic arrest was a major breakthrough for police, who this month ramped up their presence in Rochedale South following a surge in property crime that gained national attention.

The surge in crime prompted police to increase officer numbers, step up high-visibility patrols, and intensify targeted investigations.

Community members were also prompted to take matters into their own hands, forming patrols and online watch groups to share real-time updates and coordinate efforts to deter criminal activity through the Rochedale South Neighbourhood Crime Watchers.

The newly established Investigation Centre has played a crucial role in tracking down repeat offenders linked to a spree of vehicle thefts and break-ins across southeast Queensland.

As part of the operation, detectives have arrested four individuals connected to the crimes, which span the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Logan, and Rochedale South.

Since launching the crackdown, police have recovered 34 stolen vehicles.

On 22 February, police executed a search warrant at a Windsor property, leading to the arrest of a 21-year-old Woodridge man and a 20-year-old woman from Morayfield.

During the search, officers uncovered a significant cache of items, including methylamphetamine, a firearm, GHB, ammunition, drug utensils, a stolen vehicle, jewellery, four sets of high-end vehicle keys, three mobile phones, and approximately $5,000 in cash.

The 21-year-old suspect faces 34 charges, including nine counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and armed robbery in company.

Police allege he has been involved in a series of offences across southeast Queensland since December 2024.

He has been denied bail and is scheduled to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

The 20-year-old woman has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, among other offences, and is also expected to appear before the same court.

A second search warrant executed on the same day at a Durack address resulted in the arrest of a 14-year-old boy.

He faces multiple charges, including five counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and armed robbery in company.

He has been refused bail and will appear before Brisbane Children’s Court today.

Earlier, on 21 February, a 13-year-old boy was arrested in Browns Plains and charged with several offences, including burglary and trespass.

He appeared in Brisbane Children’s Court on 22February, where police opposed bail.

Brisbane Region Acting Assistant Commissioner Rhys Wildman said police remained committed to protecting the community and cracking down on offenders.

“We will not stop until each offender is off the streets,” he said.

“Police will be relentless in disrupting, preventing, and investigating property crime to ensure the safety of our communities.”
