A man was trapped and four others seriously injured following a collision at Logan Central late Sunday (21 January) night.
The Queensland Ambulance Service described the scene, in which one car erupted in flames, as “confronting”.
Police said two vehicles travelling in opposite directions crashed at around 11pm on Bardon Road.
Three people in a Ford Falcon and two in a Toyota Hi-Ace were all rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A man, 23, was driving the Falcon and had two male passengers, aged 23 and 21.
A woman, 35, was driving the van, with a 63-year-old man in the passenger seat.
Ambulances arrived at the Bardon Road crash just after 11pm.
The injured were treated at the scene and then rushed to hospital for “urgent care”.
- A male patient in his 20s was transported in a critical condition with to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital who was initially entrapped with significant leg, arm and head injuries.
- A male patient in his 20s was transported in a critical condition to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with significant head, leg and arm.
- A male patient in his 20s was transported in a serious condition to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with significant facial, chest and arm injuries.
- A female patient in her 30s was transported in a serious condition to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with significant pelvic and leg injuries
- A male patient in his 60s was transported in a serious condition to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with significant chest, abdominal and head injuries.
Multiple paramedic units attended the crash, including the QAS medical director, the high acuity response unit and critical care paramedics.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
