PEOPLE keen to start digging into their family history can get free help at Logan Village Library on Tuesday, 2 June.
The family history session will run from 1pm to 3pm at the Wharf Street library, giving beginners a chance to learn where to start and how to approach genealogy research with support from experienced volunteers.
The session is part of Logan City Council’s Active & Healthy program and is aimed at people who may have wanted to research their family tree but felt unsure about records, search tools or first steps.
The venue itself adds a fitting local history connection. Logan Village Library is housed in the old Schoolmaster’s Residence, a building first erected in 1893 and heritage-listed in 2007.
Logan Libraries also notes the library is a stop on the Logan Village to Beenleigh public art and heritage trail.
The council’s broader library services include genealogy resources, CD-ROM indexes at every library, and access to Ancestry Library free of charge at library branches.
Bookings are essential. For more information, contact Logan Village Library on 5549 8400 or email libraries@logan.qld.gov.au.
