Elite forest hideaway

Welcome to what could be the most exclusive estate in Cornubia, home to one of the wealthiest echelons of Logan society.

Located on Forest Edge Drive, the estate is home to CEOs, businessmen, doctors, builders and even a police helicopter pilot.

Currently on the market is number 6 Forest Edge Drive, an 800sqm block with a dual-level, five-bedroom, four-bathroom home.

Owner Hamish Gleeson said the home was currently in the running for Master Builders Australia’s house of the year award.

He said it was a grand home tucked away in a “beautiful street”.

“The street starts right in the corner of another street, and if you didn’t know to go up there, you would think it is a driveway for another house,” he said.

“I remember driving up there – it was dead quite – all you could hear was birds chirping.

“We didn’t take any convincing after that, it was just finding a number the builder was happy with.”

Mr Gleeson bought the home with his fiancé in 2022.

“My fiancé and I had been living overseas – we work online so we don’t have any restrictions as to where we can live – and we were looking anywhere, from Maroochydore to Sydney,” he said.

“This property caught our eye straight away, and being halfway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast was very appealing.

“We made an offer after the first inspection.”

The house was built by Dwight Hicks Construction, who Mr Gleeson said owned the entire estate before subdividing, building on, and selling the blocks.

“The beauty of that, especially with my house, is that all the big windows are facing the forest,” Mr Gleeson said.

“It’s designed in a way so that all the houses were taken into account.

“If you’re downstairs in my house, all you can see is green, even if you walk out to where the pool is, it’s basically designed so you don’t see anything but green trees.”

He said the home was different to all the “similar looking houses” being built nowadays.

“This is anything but that,” he said.

“It’s very grand when you walk in – massive windows and tonnes of light, with high ceilings, which makes it look a lot bigger inside.

“When you first walk through the front door, the eave around the door and garage is made of rose gum timber.

“It looks amazing and it doesn’t need much upkeep because it’s out of the sun.”

Outside offers a recently built swimming pool and a low-maintenance yard.

“We have dogs, and we were tired of them tearing up our lawn,” Mr Gleeson said.

“So we have heavy duty fake grass.

“I have three great danes and they couldn’t put a dint in it.”

In addition to the property’s physical features, Mr Gleeson said it was the community that tied the entire living experience together.

He said that even though he might “look like a scary bloke”, his neighbour welcomed him with open arms.

“I’m 6’2″, covered in tattoos, I’ve got massive dogs, and all these people are older than me, but they couldn’t have been nicer and more welcoming,” he said.

“Everyone’s very lovely and easy-going.”
