LOGAN’S YFS is again leading the way when it comes to finding solutions to homelessness.
They crew there have launched a Logan Advance to Zero campaign which is designed to put an end to homelessness in this region by 2025.
It’s an ambitious campaign, particularly given the complexities uncovered by a survey of those living rough.
One quote stood out, from a woman who’s been living in a car for two years with her dog.
“It’s hard if you don’t fit inside a square. We’re all different and have different needs. Organisations need to be more flexible and listen to the person at the end,” she said.
As difficult as it is for some of us to comprehend how and why people end up on the streets, this woman is asking for a fundamental right – to be heard.
That’s what this campaign does. It brings together various organisations in order to listen to those who need a helping hand.
It then plans to find ways to provide the hand they need.
Cath Bartolo and her crew at YFS are extraordinary and deserve the communities of Logan to get right behind their efforts to end homelessness over the next three years.
