Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum is holding a family friendly Easter picnic this Easter Saturday, featuring a one-of-a-kind Easter egg hunt.
Only in its second year, the event is held within the Beenleigh Historical Village and offers a range of Easter activities for families to enjoy.
Tiffany Smith from Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum’s Events Team said this year there’s a bit of a unique twist to their Easter egg hunt.
“Participants can expect a small market, beautiful parklands to picnic in, facepainting, Easter crafts, Easter Bonnet Parades and a one-of-a-kind Easter Egg Hunt,” she said.
“The egg hunt is a cane hay pile that has plastic eggs hidden inside, the children then run to the Easter Bunny in our old general store to exchange it for a chocolate one (with alternate options available).”
“One of our volunteers, Jaye, remembered doing something similar as a child in New Zealand and we decided to go with it.”
The picnic will be $2 per person and $5 for the egg hunt, with proceeds from the day going to a good cause.
“All proceeds from this event will be going towards the restoration of the Heritage listed St Georges’ Church,” Ms Smith said.
Volunteers have been working hard on restoring parts of the village this year, with Carter’s Boot Shop recently getting a new ramp and fresh new paint on its roof and railings.
The Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum’s Easter Picnic will be held from 9am to 1pm at the village – 205 Main Street, Beenleigh.
An Easter church service will be held at 8:30am before the event starts, in St George’s Church.
Ms Smith said families should pop down for a visit, as it will be “fun for children of all ages and it lets kids just be themselves.”
