Eagleby man accused of leading interstate drug ring

An Eagleby man, 20, is accused of helping lead an interstate drug network targeted in a nine-month investigation that seized 71kg of methylamphetamine and about $1.25 million in suspected criminal proceeds.

Logan detectives helped investigate the alleged network, with police charging 18 people across Operation Yankee Rumor.

The Eagleby man was charged with drug trafficking on 17 September alongside two other alleged syndicate leaders — a Burleigh Heads man, 35, and a Fingal Heads man, 30.

Detective Inspector Craig Bowman said investigators had struck a significant blow.

“The results achieved by our investigators have disrupted the syndicate’s operations and removed substantial quantities of dangerous drugs from our streets,” he said.

He acknowledged the contribution of Logan Major Organised Crime Squad and Maxima in supporting the Gold Coast-led investigation.

Police began investigating in December 2025, targeting alleged drug trafficking and money laundering across South East and North Queensland.

The final phase involved 11 search warrants in Queensland and New South Wales.

Across the full investigation, police also reported seizing 10kg of cocaine, 3kg of heroin, 1kg of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (ecstasy) and three rifles.

It has been reported the local accused was Lincoln Michael Jeffress, who was granted bail at Southport Magistrates Court on 18 September, with the matter due back on 26 November.

The case comes as recorded drug offences across Logan City climb.

Queensland Police figures found 5191 drug offences were recorded within the council area in the 12 months to August 2026, up almost 22% from 4256 in the preceding year.

Recorded trafficking offences increased from 31 to 35, while selling and supplying offences fell from 184 to 148.

The figures reflect offences reported to or detected by police, while changes in enforcement and reporting can affect the totals.

Logan detectives have also played a central role in other substantial investigations this year.

In May, Logan Major Organised Crime Squad led the separate Operation Yankee Mako. Police reported seizing 23.5kg of cocaine and 10,000 MDMA pills during searches at Currumbin and Nerang.

In April, Operation Xray Skywalk searches included Yarrabilba, Flagstone, Slacks Creek, Regents Park and Kingston.

Police said they found commercial-scale illicit laboratory equipment and precursor chemicals at warehouses in Yarrabilba and Flagstone.

Speaking about that separate investigation, Detective Acting Chief Superintendent Craig McGrath described the stakes for communities.

“Every seizure represents less substances reaching our streets and reduces harm to individuals, families and frontline responders across Queensland,” he said.
