Like one in every five Australians, many local residents live in multi-generational households.
But not all 20% of Aussies have access to homes offering the space, lifestyle and freedom found in many properties across Logan’s 70 suburbs.
According to Johnson Teo from Ray White Springwood and Shailer Park, Rochedale South’s 7 Cornwall Close is just one example.
Mr Teo said this property – divided into two separate dwellings across a 2000sqm block – was ideal for dual-family living.
“If you’ve got an extended family or a multi-generational family, it’s really good to have two families in one property,” he said.
These features are currently utilised by the existing owners who live in the main residence while other family members live in the pool house close by.
“It’s separate, so they still enjoy their own privacy, but can come together quite easily too,” Mr Teo said.
Built in the late 1980s, the property is around 35 years old. A pool house, a Bali hut, and a spa pool in the outdoor areas of the property are extensions of the original build.
Regular improvements have been made consistently by the current owners.
In recent years, Logan suburbs have become increasingly desirable on the property market, Mr Teo said.
“We can see that it’s becoming the area to be now.
“When I first started my career, say 10 years ago, no one really wanted to come to this part of the world.
“Here, you can have a little bit more land, a little bit more freedom, more of a lifestyle change.”
For families with young children, the short commute to good schools in surrounding suburbs is advantageous.
“There are really good schools around these parts, and a lot of families are slowly understanding that they want to be close to schools,” Mr Teo said.
“There’s a lot of value to it.”
