More than 100 people gathered at Underwood on auction day as a large family home at 26–28 The Heights sold under the hammer for $3.2 million, setting a new suburb record.
The property, which sits across two titles on a 1406 square metre block, drew strong interest from buyers looking for space and flexibility. Six bidders registered for the auction, though only two actively competed as the price climbed.
Bidding opened at $2.5 million and moved quickly in large increments before slowing in the final stages. The eventual buyer, a local purchaser, secured the property with a final bid of $3.2 million.
Selling agent Zishaan Omar, from Ray White Rochedale, described the home as “very unique”.
“The property is on a 1406sqm block of land, and there’s a huge granny flat on one of the blocks,” Mr Omar said.
“Something like this is hard to find in Underwood.”
The home includes multiple living spaces designed to accommodate extended families, along with features such as a pool, workshop and parking for several vehicles.
Mr Omar said the successful buyer planned to live in the home with his extended family, including his three sons.
“The family that bought this one have multiple kids and extended family who are all looking to live together,” he said.
The sellers had owned the property for about a year, purchasing it for $2.75 million – the suburb’s previous record sale – before deciding to move overseas due to family commitments.
Mr Omar said the result pointed to continued confidence in the local property market, despite broader signs of softening conditions.
“I think this is a good result for the area and it’s nice to see a sale crack $3 million here.”
