It is so sad to continually read about the number of accidents and deaths on our roads.
We are told that the majority of accidents are caused by vehicles traveling too close to the vehicle in front.
Our authorities keep telling drivers to keep “a safe distance from the vehicle in front”, yet it was only at an advanced driving course that a safe distance was described “as a minimum of three seconds” at whatever speed.
On a line of traffic most cars would be about one second apart. At three seconds you get to your destination just as quickly, and safely.
I just wish our authorities would describe “a safe distance” instead of leaving to the idiots on our roads..
