A new charity in Browns Plains has been quietly feeding the community with its weekly soup kitchen.
Operating for nearly five months, Daily Bread House offers free meals to locals every Wednesday from 10am to 12pm at the 1-World Charity Shop car park, next to Centrelink.
“Our goal is to provide support and hope as the cost of living continues to rise,” Daily Bread House president Elsa Roache said.
“It’s heartbreaking to see so many people struggling, but we’re here to help in any way we can.”
The soup kitchen serves a variety of meals, including barbeque breast fillet wraps, sausage sizzles, and free bread and fruit to take home.
Hot beverages like coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are also offered, alongside cakes, scones, or biscuits depending on donations.
Daily Bread House has future plans which includes a pop-up pantry in 2025 to help families access affordable groceries.
On 18 December, the charity will host a Christmas party with hamper giveaways, marking their final service for the year before resuming on 8 January 2025.
