Culture Kings moves global headquarters to Logan

Logan is becoming a commerical and industrial hotspot with one of the country’s leading streetwear retailers relocating to the city.

The announcement comes just months after Toyota began construction on a major parts warehouse at Crestmead.

The retailer also joins the likes of Go1, LSKD, DHL Supply Chain, Border Express, Black Sky Industries, Advanced Air Mobility, BlockTexx and Pan Pacific Recycling – all of which call Logan home.

Culture Kings has built a new $3.5 million global distribution centre in Park Ridge, custom-designed to enable the packaging and postage of around 10,000 parcels a day.

The brand’s operations director, Joel Randal, said Logan was the ideal location due to its proximity to retail stores and Brisbane Airport, enabling efficient service for interstate customers.

“Our team are also super happy with their new workplace, not just because of the internal efficiencies but 85 per cent of our staff are spending less time commuting,” he said.

The 10,000sqm facility also includes an indoor basketball court, and an astro-turfed lounge and gaming area.

Mr Randal said it was purpose-built to suit the Culture Kings culture and vibe.

“Importantly, we have been able to access a new talent pool of employees, meaning we’ve been able to hire 50 Logan locals, within two days of operating, who’ve never had the chance to work for Culture Kings before,” he said.

Mayor Jon Raven said Logan was on track to become Australia’s premier destination for national and international businesses considering relocation or expanding.

“In the last financial year alone, our Economic Development team have helped investors across a range of businesses, including resource recovery, expansion of drone delivery, advanced manufacturing, and health and medical,” he said.

Council’s Investment Attraction Incentive Fund (IAIF) helped create 336 new jobs and attracted almost $116 million of future capital investment, according to the mayor.

“Relocating from Archerfield to Logan means Culture Kings was able to improve logistical operations, enhance its distribution network, and improve travel times and the health and wellbeing of staff,” he said.

“A fast-tracked development approval process also allowed construction work on the 10,000sqm site to start sooner than expected.”

Cr Raven said Culture Kings’ decision showed there was booming business and community confidence in Logan’s economic future.

“Our economy has steadily grown over the past decade and so has our city’s reputation,” he said.

“Logan is now an attractive location for some of the most innovative and successful brands in Australia and the world.

“We’re home to two of the world’s leading streetwear and activewear brands, one of the world’s largest automotive companies and a startup that is literally out of this world, building sub-orbital rockets.”

Cr Raven said the city’s young and diverse population differed from most others in Australia, where “an aging population is the norm”.

“This gives Logan a significant economic advantage because we have a young pipeline of talent and ambition – and we’re all about developing and encouraging that,” he said.

“I have no doubt our city’s investment attraction team will continue to bring business opportunities to Logan that will create jobs for our community.”
