Ex-Logan locals Michael and Sue Batt are fulfilling their dreams of moving to the country, with the sale of their Cornubia home the first step.
They only purchased 10-12 Reuben Street, Cornubia, a few years ago, but it is time for a change, Mr Batt said.
“We’ve been here three or four years, but we’ve decided we’re moving up to the country,” Mr Batt said.
He said the Cornubia home offered him the best of country-life and suburbia.
“There’s this green belt that goes through there and it makes you feel like you’re living in the country,” he said.
“And there’s a creek just up the road where you can take the dog for a walk, put the boat in, go fishing and that type of thing.
“But it’s surprisingly central.”
Mr Batt said the longer he and his wife lived at the house, the more amazing qualities they noticed.
It was also the perfect location for him and his wife, Mr Batt said, because they were 30 minutes away from all their grandchildren.
“It’s probably the reason why we bought it in the first place, because it was close to the kids,” he said.
The property hasn’t been up on the market for long, and Mr Batt said he hoped it sold to a young family.
“A young family would be ideal,” he said.
“There’s four good-sized bedrooms, a pool, all the safety things like fencing and the gates and all that.
“[And] there’s plenty of parking there, even for a caravan. There’s a lot of space.”
The house sits on a 954-square-metre, triangular block and it’s within five kilometres of 10 different schools, but Mr Batt said that was only the beginning.
“A couple of the schools are within walking distance, there a doctor just around the corner, its safe and secure – and you sort of got to look after your security these days with the way things are going,” he said.
“Shops are really close – walking distance again – everything is there.
“Everything you want is there.”
Although he’ll miss the home, Mr Batt said he was excited to start his new country life.
