Finalists have been announced for the first City of Logan People’s Excellence Awards, with winners to be revealed at a ceremony next month.
Logan City Council will present 17 awards across six categories, recognising achievements in sport, arts and heritage, business, community service, innovation and environmental leadership. A Mayor’s Excellence Award will also be handed to an individual judged to have made an outstanding contribution to the city.
Mayor Jon Raven said the judging panel faced tough decisions after receiving a strong field of nominations.
“This day is about the people who give back and help make Logan a great place to live,” he said.
Finalists include community groups, schools, sporting clubs, volunteers and local businesses.
Artist award finalists in the arts and heritage category are Chloe Wigg and Dr Nicola Hooper, while Ali Strachan and Louise Wheatley are in the running for the Creative Contribution Award.
Assorted Grains Inc and Buddha’s Light International Association of QLD have been nominated for the cultural impact award.

In innovation, Impact Care Services and Kendra Clarke are finalists for the learning and health award, while Substation33 and Youth Enterprise Trust have been recognised in the local enterprise award.
The social impact category features Danny Heke, Melinda Hartley and Zakaria Amin for community advocate, alongside Aunty Faith Green, Galia Rose and Nicky Pati for health and wellbeing advocate.
