I have just received via mail (June 14) an A4 4page full colour propaganda ‘newsletter’ from Mindy Russell, Division 3 councillor.
Do we not already have a bi-monthly council newsletter in which councillors can promote their division achievements?
With next year’s budget due shortly, please tell me this is not a case of I must overspend my divisional allowance in order to justify a larger allowance in the next budget?
How much does such a mailout to every house in Division 3 cost?
If a councillor wishes to impress me, a deduction in Division 3 rates with an explanation that “$5 has been deducted due to savings by your Division 3 councillor”, attached to my account would work far better.
I can only offer hindsight to the mayor’s “Budget must reflect rising costs” article now.
We need cost saving measures people, not nest feathering.
