Carpark emerges at Springwood Mall

A new carpark at Springwood Mall is fast emerging from beneath the existing centre, with construction works on schedule for the new $16 million development.

The new undercroft car park will adjoin the basement entry to new 20m travelators.

When finished, the transformed area will be brand new and the entry above will look totally different to the existing centre.

The earthmoving required to build the new 94 undercover and external car parks recently removed another 2500
cubic metres of soil in addition to the 8000 cubic metres that has already left the site.

Ben Griffin is director of Geon Property, who manage the centre on behalf of owners Chin Hong Investments Corporation Pty Ltd, and said the redevelopment building works were progressing well with their timing on track for completion in mid-2022.

“We have now removed almost 11,000 cubic metres of soil from the site to create the new undercroft car park, which is a massive undertaking,” he said.

“Once the undercroft car park is completed later this year, we will be resurfacing the restored external car park and adding brand new shade sails for customer comfort and convenience.”

Woolworths and all retailers at Springwood Mall continue to trade as normal during these changes, with customer car parking available in the undercroft car park directly underneath Woolworths or in the car park outside of Target.
