Business finally getting back to normal

On April 14, we see the return to normal for our struggling hospitality businesses with the vaccine mandate restrictions for cafes, pubs and clubs set to ease.

I know many of you, like my father, will still choose to wear a mask when out in crowded spaces, but the easing of restrictions is the next step back from the pandemic.

No more will people be asking the question, “Do I have to be vaccinated to meet you there?” and while this pales into comparison with the troubles of recent flooding, it is fabulous to think that we are slowly putting the pandemic into a ‘normal’ box.

We are now one community again and hopefully Covid remains just a background noise, without the division and crippling effects of closures and restrictions.

This coincides with the Logan Chamber of Commerce announcing the opening of nominations for the 2022 Logan Business Distinction Awards.

This year we have 17 industry categories for businesses to enter and six major awards including the coveted Logan 2022 Business of the Year.

In past years, this black-tie event has been held at the Logan Entertainment Centre and last year at the Beenleigh Events Centre.

This year, to shake things up again, the event will be held at the Distillery Road function space, attached to the Zarraffas Headquarters and created by its founder, Kenton Campbell.

We will have capacity for 400 people and as always, Logan’s Business Night of Night’s will not disappoint.

We need your help getting our shy, hard-working businesses on the roster with nominations.

If you have recently had a great experience with a local business, consider nominating them for an award. Knowing that their customers care enough to nominate them for an award will mean the world to them.

You can nominate them by going to loganbusinessawards.com.au and clicking the “nominations are open” button.

You can also send nominations to MyCity Logan, PO Box 115, Waterford 4133, or by texting 0477 316 892. This is a real chance to rally around those who are the backbone of our local economy.

2022 is finally starting to become the year our local businesses and economy needs.
