Brave a spooky halloween trail at Beenleigh

The Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum will take on a spooky new look this October as families are invited to step into a night of Halloween fun.

The Spooky Fair will give locals the chance to explore the Beenleigh Historical Village after dark with a night market, food, entertainment and a Trick or Treat Trail for families to enjoy.

Event organiser Tiffany Smith said the Spooky Fair would have two different sections for different experiences.

“There will be the market, which is free to enter and ,on the other side, we’ve got the spooky trail, which is run by Junior Quota,” Ms Smith said.

The event has been designed to offer the Halloween atmosphere without making the night too frightening for younger visitors.

“The spooky part is run by the kids. They’re mostly teenagers from 12 to 18 years old, and they dress up.

“They do a couple of jump scares, but we also have ways to tell whether to scare or not to scare.”

Rather than simply walking through the village, visitors will encounter characters and volunteers along the Trick or Treat Trail, helping to bring the Halloween theme to life.

“Last year we had a scary blacksmith. We had a couple of clowns and some undead,” Ms Smith said.

The characters will form part of the trail, giving families plenty of surprises as they make their way through the historic village.

While the fair is designed to entertain local families, it is also giving young people an opportunity to get involved in creating an event for their community.

“We have [the event] here at the historical village because we also do trick or treating. It’s a safe place for the kids to go… without being out on the street.

“It means that the kids are helping each other out.”

Families are encouraged to come along and experience the Halloween fun.

“Dress up. Have fun. Pre-book your ticket. Pre-booked tickets are preferred so that we can cater for lollies.

“It’s a good evening to get out of the house. There will be typical markets, ice cream and a couple of food vans as well.”

The Spooky Fair will be held on Saturday, 24 October, from 5pm to 8pm. Entry to the fair is free, while tickets are required for the Trick or Treat Trail. Book via Humanitix.
