The federal government has announced they will deliver more than $2 million to fix high-severity crash zones in Browns Plains and Crestmead.
Under the government’s Black Spots program, the following roads will be upgraded:
- Browns Plains Road and Fifth Avenue at Crestmead – $335,000 upgrade
- Browns Plains Road and Waller Road at Browns Plains – $750,000 upgrade
- Bumstead Road and Julie Street at Crestmead – $980,000
In the past five years there have been a total of 39 reported crashes at these intersections.
Browns Plains Road and Waller Road have taken the top spot with 18 reported crashes.
The project has $110 million to distribute throughout the country.
Treasurer and member for Rankin, Jim Chalmers, said nothing was more important than the well-being and safety of people in the community.
“These black spots we’ve identified are some of the worst in the country and it’s clear we needed to take action before someone else was hurt,” Mr Chalmers said.
“This is a significant investment in safer roads for our area and a big win for the people of Browns Plains and Crestmead.”
