Better buy a bigger boat …

Greg Green, 72, and his wife bought their five-bedroom house at Bethania in 2010.

But it’s time for them to put their sea legs on, moving into their boat to travel the world.

“I am a retired concreter and my wife still work occasionally as a remedial massage therapist,” he said.

“We moved in here in January 2010, it was the perfect place for my retirement, because it’s just so peaceful and tranquil – it’s an amazing lifestyle.

“We are right across from the Loganlea State High School property, so we often see cows, bulls and sheep in the background. It has that country feel with all the wildlife around us and the views of the river are magical.”

Mr Green said the reason they are selling is because they’ve decided to downsize – into their 56-foot boat.

“We have a 56-foot boat with 3 bedrooms and an ensuite, we could go all over the place, stay down at the Broadwater and up to Noosa and just do some travelling for a bit,” he said

Their current home on Copper Drive is consequently for sale.

It has five bedrooms, three bathrooms, an outdoor entertaining area, a downstairs rumpus room, a home business setup and its very own flood-proof pontoon.

The property has full access to the Logan River.

The pontoon, which was engineered and reinforced to allow for deep water access, is one of only a handful of registered pontoons on the Logan River.

Mr Green said he had it specially made to withstand flood waters.

“We had a pontoon specifically designed to be flood proof, the river has never come up to our home even at its highest at 10.6 metres back in March of this year, but we wanted to make sure the boat was safe, and it was,” he said.

Mr Green said although the property is peaceful and tranquil, it’s close to suburbia.

“It’s just three minutes away from the shops, like Bunnings, Holmview Shopping Centre, the Bethania Sporting Grounds,” he said.

“We will miss the lifestyle here, the amazing views, the birdlife and wildlife and the space it has.”

The property also has a fireplace, a double carport on the side and front of the home, a 3.5m x 12.5m shed, water tanks, solar panels and a security system.
