FEDERAL Member for Forde Bert van Manen will be in a familiar role when he returns to parliament.
He’ll continue in his position as the LNP’s appointment as Chief Whip. The one key difference is that he’ll this time be in opposition.
New LNP leader Peter Dutton confirmed the appointment of Mr van Manen to Chief Opposition Whip last week.
“I am honoured to continue in this role,” Mr van Manen said.
“We are entering a new era, under a new leader, and the role of Chief Opposition Whip will be vital for our plan of returning to government at the earliest possible opportunity.”
Mr van Manen, 57, was first appointed the role in 2019.
“With so many new MPs entering Parliament it will be a very interesting time for everyone,” Mr van Manen said.
He said he would continue to champion the issues important to his constituents.
“The most important thing for me is to continue delivering for my community,” Mr van Manen said.
“I have achieved a great deal since I was first elected in 2010 and I plan to continue delivering into the future.”
