There was a death in the Beenleigh Watchhouse yesterday afternoon.
A man, 30, was being held at the watchhouse after being sentenced for breaching a domestic violence order.
He was to be transferred to prison.
The Ethical Standards Command is investigating the death in custody.
Police said the man was found dead during a routine cell check at 5.15pm.
A watchhouse nurse applied first aid and Queensland Ambulance Officers attended, however the man was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The State Coroner has been advised and the Crime and Corruption Commission will provide independent oversight of the Ethical Standards Command investigation.
