Beenleigh Artisan Distillery recognised with state and national tourism awards

Beenleigh Artisan Distillery has taken out top honours at the Australian tourism awards, placing the historic Logan attraction among the country’s leading visitor experiences.

The distillery won the Wineries, Distilleries and Breweries category at the 2025 Queensland Tourism Industry Council Tourism Awards before claiming the national title at the 2025 Australian Tourism Awards announced in March.

The Beenleigh distillery, which traces its history back to 1884, is widely recognised as Australia’s oldest operating rum distillery and has become a popular destination for visitors interested in the region’s industrial heritage.

Venue manager Ross Adams said the awards recognised the work of staff and the growing number of visitors exploring the site.

“This is an incredible honour for our entire team,” Mr Adams said.

“To be recognised not only in Queensland but across Australia reflects the passion and dedication that goes into every experience we offer.”

The distillery offers guided tours of the production area, tastings and a look at the traditional distilling methods used on site.

Visitors can also learn about the long history of rum production in Beenleigh and its role in Queensland’s early sugar industry.

Mr Adams said the recognition also reflected the support of the local community and visitors who continue to seek out the experience.

“These awards belong to our team and our community,” Mr Adams said.

“We’re grateful to the visitors, partners and supporters who continue to champion what we do.”

The Australian Tourism Awards recognise tourism operators across the country for visitor experience, service and innovation.

For Beenleigh, the recognition highlights the continued interest in heritage tourism and the growing appeal of distillery experiences for travellers and locals.
