Arndale seeks removal of unbuilt bus-interchange condition

A requirement for a bus-interchange easement at Arndale Shopping Centre could be removed about 25 years after the interchange was never built.

The request forms part of a change application lodged on 24 August for the centre at 17–27 Cinderella Drive, Springwood.

Ratio Consultants associate planner Cameron See said the applicant wanted the condition removed because the interchange was never established.

“Separately, the condition/s relating to the bus interchange easement requirement are proposed to be removed as the bus interchange was not established on the site,” Mr See wrote in the application letter.

Mr See said state agencies were being consulted before the requirement could be removed.

“A prelodgement advice request has been submitted to SARA and they are actively liaising with DTMR and Translink,” he wrote.

“It is understood that confirmation will be required before this condition can be removed from the development approval.”

The request accompanies proposed changes to the centre’s Coles click-and-collect area.

Plans involve removing the existing facilities, pedestrian crossing and 10 car parks before expanding the click-and-collect area and reinstating the crossing.

The application also seeks to regularise an existing car-park layout that does not match the centre’s latest approval.

Mr See said the changes would not expand the shopping centre or increase traffic.

“The proposed changes do not result in any increase in the floor area of the development and by extension no additional traffic movements are expected as a result of the development,” he wrote.

The letter does not state how many car parks would remain across the centre.

Logan City Council lists the application as undecided. Neither the click-and-collect changes nor removal of the interchange requirement has been approved.
