Otherwise known as the site for the closed aquatic centre, people have contributed new ideas to help shape the park.
Despite ongoing objections from some sectors of the community that the pool should remain open, council says the new ideas lead to a fun, accessible and family-oriented community space.
There was a “community visioning session” at the site on August 11.
Now, council wants to build on that feedback and hear more from the community via an online Have Your Say survey.
Some other ideas shared at the visioning session included:
• a waterplay area
• outdoor staging
• nature-based activities
• sensory play
Division 12 Cr Karen Murphy, who objected to the pool’s closure, said input from local families was invaluable and would form the basis of a masterplan for the site.
“The redevelopment of Bishop Street Park is an exciting opportunity for residents in Eagleby,” Cr Murphy said.
“It is not every day you get to help design a new facility for your family and community to enjoy.
“This is our chance to develop something special that will enhance the lifestyles of local people now and for many years to come.
“We want to hear from as many people as possible, so I encourage everyone with an interest in this park to jump online and share their thoughts.”
