Affordable education where trust is key

By Canterbury College Principal Dan Walker

Are you unhappy with your child’s current school?

Maybe your children aren’t getting what they need to grow into the best version of themselves?

Perhaps there aren’t enough subject options?

Or the ‘big one’ we hear from mums and dads all the time: “We need an affordable private school, where we can genuinely trust in their academic excellence.”

As a parent myself, I know that education – after the family home – is probably the most important investment you will make.

So you might have a really bright or hardworking son or daughter at home, striving to enter a top-level career after school.

But they’re not getting what they need in their current school, which might be hampering their potential to get into university, or enter the trade or job of their dreams.

At Canterbury College, our task is to ensure that every one of our young people is ready for the world, with a high-quality academic education.

We are a big ‘Prep to Year 12’ school, but with a definite ‘small school’ feel.

So if you’re thinking about changing schools, come and check us out.

Canterbury’s major student intake years are in Years 5, 7 and 10.

YEAR 5

Year 5 is a great time to make the move to Canterbury.

Our Year 5 and 6 program is known around Queensland for promoting all-roundedness in students, across academic pursuits, sport, music, service and leadership.

This strategy is backed by Australia’s leading wellbeing school program – The Resilience Project.

Starting at Canterbury in Year 5, also provides a flying start into our high school.

YEAR 7

Typically, we reserve around 70 places each year, for new Year 7s from surrounding schools.

These places are filling fast for 2024, with a small number remaining for 2023, so please get in touch today.

We have the widest Year 7 curriculum subject options, a Year 7 Music Extension program, as well as 13 offerings in sport, and over 20 activity clubs – from eSports to Theatre Sports, Robotics, and even a Drone Academy.

YEAR 10

Year 10 is a critical year to get your child ‘back on track’ academically.

So if you’re not sure they are getting what they need right now, I invite you to talk with us.

Come for our wider curriculum offerings.

Come for our disciplined and personalised academic culture.

Come to access our professional sport and music.

Come for our focus on character, leadership, service and social justice.

And enrol with us, knowing that Canterbury has some of Queensland’s best senior teachers.

Our recent Year 10s have turbocharged their university preparation and achieved outstanding ATARs at Year 12.

I hope we can welcome you to our fast-growing Canterbury Family, here at our beautiful Waterford campus.
