THE 2025/26 Logan City Council budget has been passed by your councillors and what a long road it has been.
I want to thank the people of Logan for placing your trust in us to make these tough and important decisions on your behalf.
We’ve officially become a city of more than 400,000 people — and in less than a decade our population will hit half a million.
With that growth comes responsibility: to keep delivering what our community needs, in a way that’s fair, sustainable, and future-focused.
That’s exactly what this record $1.22 billion budget does.
It protects what we value and reforms what’s outdated.
Most importantly, after months of listening, it reflects what residents told us they wanted: practical solutions, real savings and investment in what matters most.
This year for ratepayers on the minimum general rate, the increase to rates and charges, including water and sewerage, is 6.42%.
Which is an extra $3.90 a week – less than the price of a 3 litre bottle of milk.
That’s one of the lowest percentage increases to the bottom line of any city in South East Queensland — and we achieved that without any new levies or hidden charges.
In this budget, we’ve been able to invest $1.5 million to improve our pothole repairs. We’ve expanded
pensioner concessions — now including full discounts for veterans with Gold Cards.
And as promised during my election, we’re offering three-year pet registration options for the price of two, to deliver better value and save residents the hassle of annual rego.
You will see some changes to opening hours of our animal management centre (it will close at midday on Saturdays) and council has introduced a new fee for commercial and large community events held at our city parks.
This fee helps to pay for the staff time it takes to support organisations to plan and run a safe event and covers the cost of additional wear and tear or damage that may happen.
Please rest assured that this doesn’t impact your regular birthday parties or family picnics.
This is only for commercial events that are for profit or community events with hundreds of people.
If you’ve got questions about this fee or anything else about the budget please email my office: mayor@logan.qld.gov.au.
