THE Men’s Shed at 3/15 Corporate Place, Hillcrest, will on tomorrow June 25 be holding an open day and sale to the general public.
They’ll be selling toys and other items they’ve made in the shed, from 7.30am-12pm. There will be a sausage sizzle and drinks, so people are being asked to “bring their small change”.
The men’s shed is supported by the Greenbank RSL Sub-Branch as a way for men to “meet other blokes over shared interests and hobbies.
There’s an opportunity to learn new skills or simply attend regular barbecues and community projects.
The shed is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6.30am until 12pm. It’s free to attend. Phone 3806 6086.
This week is International Men’s Health Week, and a number of organisations are urging men to take care of their health, including the Cancer Council Queensland.
“We know that at least one third of cancers can be prevented through healthy lifestyle choices,” researcher Larry Myers said.
“Each year in Australia, more than 13,000 cancer deaths are due to smoking, sun exposure, unhealthy diet, alcohol, inadequate physical activity and being above a healthy weight.”
