Cath’s work reaps ‘team reward’

The chief Executive of Youth and Family Service Logan City, Cath Bartolo, has been made a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the community of Logan.

“While Cath never seeks recognition for her work this is a fitting testament to Cath’s commitment to the Logan community and the community services sector in Queensland”, YFS chair Helen Sharpley said.

“Cath’s contribution to improving the lives of the most vulnerable members of society has been extraordinary.”

Cath said she is humbled and overwhelmed to receive the award.

“It is an incredible honour to be recognised in this way,” she said.

“I truly believe that this is recognition for the work of YFS – our staff, board, partners and clients – rather than what I’ve achieved,” she said

For more than 30 years Cath has devoted her life to the Logan community, first as a teacher then as a disability co-ordinator and for the past 20 years as YFS leader.

During her time with YFS Cath has embraced opportunities to partner with the community, government and other organisations to find better ways to support the people who need it most, particularly in the areas of young people, family, housing, employment mentoring, legal support, domestic and family violence, social enterprise, financial capability and mental health.
