Every moment of every day, there is a small local business finding a way forward.
When you wake up, the flour-covered baker has already baked your morning’s gastronomical delights, the wise-cracking barista has cleaned the coffee machine, ready for your morning go-juice and the super-optimistic greengrocer has picked the best produce from the markets and hauled it back, ready for you to buy.
When your day is done and you lay your head down to sleep, the wizened old financial analyst starts checking on your international stock position, the young software developer is having his 4th Coke to push on through the night and finish your next indispensable phone app and the traffic controllers are putting out their first of 1 million traffic cones for the night.
Small business drives the economy, in good times and bad, neither rain nor flood, nor bushfire, nor lockdown shall keep these entrepreneurial dreamers from pursuing their goals.
Not only do we provide for our families, but we also see a need to be filled. We are driven, not by money, but by our thirst to be significant in our community and help others.
We look after your grandchildren and service your air-conditioner, we prune your trees and clean your pools. Small business is everywhere. And while we won’t give up, it’s not easy.
There are a lot of little things you can do to help. A kind word to the barista, baker or greengrocer can really lift sagging spirits.
Tell them you appreciate them and that you’ll keep coming back. In a world that seems intent on introducing more levels of uncertainty, a smile, indication of gratitude and a small indication of certainty can be the vaccination in our lockdown world, and it goes both ways.
From all the Logan small businesses owners that have survived the current crisis, we thank you for your continued support, custom and appreciation.
