With so much land clearing being done in the western suburbs of the City of Logan, council is looking to help rejuvenate some bushland – and with free morning tea as an incentive.
About 1500 trees will be planted at a special day at Mundoolun Park on Saturday September 25.
Everyone is invited to the Bushcare 2021 Big Day Out, to plant native trees and shrubs and help protect and enhance the local environment.
Deputy mayor Jon Raven said it was time for the community to get their hands dirty.
“It’s not every day you get to do something fun that also helps our environment,” Cr Raven said.
“Tree planting is one of the best ways we can continue to keep our City green and cool while supporting the good health and sustainability of our natural environments.”
Councillor for the area Scott Bannan said the local community is committed to supporting and protecting natural areas.
“Our community includes farms and rural areas, so we know the value of helping our land to thrive,” Cr Bannan said.
“I look forward to seeing residents of all ages getting out there to revegetate our area.”
Enclosed footwear and sun protection should be worn. Gloves will be supplied but attendees are encouraged to bring their own if possible.
Free morning tea will be provided. Volunteers will meet at the Mundoolun Community Centre on Scarborough Ct at
8am.
