Applications for lockdown assistance now open

SOLE traders and family partnerships will be limited to $1000 grants under the state government’s Covid assistance package.

Businesses that trade more than $75,000 a year and which employ staff will be entitled to $5000, providing they can prove that they lost at least 30% of business during lockdown.

Grants include:

  • A $1,000 one-off grant to non-employing sole traders across Queensland
  • Tiered payments based on payroll size for all businesses across Queensland:
    • A $5,000 one-off, top-up grant to small business with payroll of less than $1.3 million
    • A $10,000 one-off, top-up grant to medium sized business with payroll between $1.3 million and $10 million
    • A $25,000 one-off, top-up grant to large sized tourism and hospitality focused businesses with payroll of greater than $10 million.

The state government package has been matched by the federal government.

Member for Woodridge Cameron Dick said the agreement would boost support, not just for businesses that have been affected by recent lockdowns, but by those that continue to suffer because of lockdowns in other jurisdictions.

He said the increased amount of money would “vastly increase the scope of support available to businesses right across the state.”

Applications for assistance opened yesterday (Monday).
