Our community has been facing some difficult challenges over the past 18 months and I commend the efforts of each and every member of my community for complying with health directives and working together to get through these uncertain times.
It is important now more than ever with the Delta outbreak in Queensland that we continue to follow all health directions to keep not only ourselves and our families safe but the wider Logan community.Â
I know that many people in my community have been impacted by the current South East Queensland lockdown, and I want to assure you that the Australian Government is seeking to ensure that all Australians have a safety net to get them through this difficult time.
On July 31, it was announced that Queenslanders impacted by the current lockdown would be eligible to claim the Covid-19 Disaster Payment. We have already paid out $994 million to workers in New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia now it’s our time to support Queensland.Â
The Covid-19 Disaster Payment is currently available to all Queenslanders who have lost hours of work because they either live or work in a Commonwealth-declared hotspot.
If you have lost between 8 and 20 hours of work as a result of the South East Queensland lockdown, you will be eligible to submit your claim from Saturday August 7.Â
o People who lose 20 hours of work or more in a seven-day period will be eligible for $750 (or the duration of the lockdown if the lockdown is less than seven days);Â
o People who lose between 8 and 20 hours in a seven-day period will be eligible for $450 (or the duration of the lockdown); andÂ
o $200 for income support recipients who lose 8 or more hours of work in a seven-day period (or the duration of the lockdown).Â
You can submit your claim online through MyGov or by contacting the Services Australia emergency information line on 180 22 66.Â
