I love reading your paper when the new issues come out. Great to see someone actually reporting on the area who cares.
However, in your editorial section in this issue (MyCity Logan, July 20-26) Denise wrote in about main street and has a lot of inaccuracies I’d like to correct with the shocking way the construction was handled.
I’m a frequent shopper in many of the businesses in Main Street and the way she wrote it is completely inaccurate.
First of all most of the businesses have seen major declines in trade because of the parking.
Places like the lovely little bakery were even closing early and on Saturdays because nobody could get to her shop.
Secondly, after speaking to a lot of the businesses most of them were not notified or spoken to until well after the construction/madness started which began at the end of April, not June like she wrote.
However, the focus for Denise’s letter was on her business and turnover and not of the safety and support for the town and its citizens which was frankly quite poor and mismanaged.
Many of the videos and pictures I’ve seen of the shocking OH&S issues are quite frightening to know they got council approval from our local government and incompetent members.
