Education and health services will always be pillars of any Labor government.
We understand that if you invest in the future and the wellbeing of communities then the horizon will remain forever bright.
Our 2021-22 state budget does just that, with record spends in our schools and healthcare system, including $190.8 million for education across Logan and $2.8 billion for hospital and health services in the region.
This means new learning facilities for our kids and a world-class hospital system that will cater for the needs of our growing city.
Among our education investments, $500,000 will go to Crestmead State School for increased outside school hours care capacity, $900,000 will see the refurbishment of a key learning block at Kingston State School, while Logan City Special School and Marsden State School will receive millions for more classrooms.
Homework centres will be introduced at 12 Logan state schools including Browns Plains High School, Marsden State High School and Woodridge State High School, while every school across the city will benefit from various facilities upgrades that together will create an awesome educational environment for our students.
We also keep pushing ahead with the biggest hospital expansion in our state here in Logan.
In this year’s budget we’re investing $112.5 million out of a $591 million total spend that will eventually see an additional 206 hospital beds available for our community.
We’re proud to continue putting Queenslanders first. Their health. Their education.
Expect more major announcements from these investments in the months and years ahead.
