Small café dream wins big for Greenbank

Brad and Caroline “Caz” Davies imagined a small Greenbank café with one or two staff. Two years later, they have a team of more than 10, seating for 100 and a national café award.

Their business, The Eve Café & Bar, won the Café category at the 2026 Australian Women’s Small Business Champion Awards shortly before its second birthday.

“We live in Everleigh, so this was always personal,” Mr Davies said.

“We wanted to build the kind of place we’d love to have as our local: somewhere worth making breakfast plans for, bringing friends to and settling in over a second coffee.”

The couple opened at Everleigh Sports Park in September 2024, in the neighbourhood where they are raising their daughter.

Support from their neighbours soon took the business beyond its original plans. As the café grew, so did the connections across the counter.

“You start by learning someone’s coffee order, then get to know their family,” Mr Davies said.

“Customers have become friends, and we’re watching our regulars’ children grow up alongside our daughter.

“Running a café in the neighbourhood where we’re raising our own family makes those connections especially meaningful.”

Mr Davies said Caz brought more than 23 years of hospitality experience to The Eve.

The national recognition gave the family another milestone to share.

“Winning the Café category at the 2026 Australian Women’s Small Business Champion Awards just before our second birthday was an extraordinary moment,” he said.

“Sharing it with our daughter made it even more special.”

He said the win followed recognition as Logan’s Best Café in the 2024 Coffee Commune awards and Outstanding Café at the 2025 Local Business Awards.

Behind the latest award was the daily work of a team far bigger than the couple had expected to employ.

“There’s a lot of everyday work behind a moment like that, and our team deserves enormous credit,” Mr Davies said.

“So do the locals who keep coming back, bring their friends and recommend us. They’ve helped turn our idea for a small café into something far bigger than we expected.

“We’re proud to put Greenbank in the spotlight. We want The Eve to be a reason for people to visit the area, and a place locals are proud to call their own.”
