City of Logan residents are being called upon for input to a road upgrade for the Beenleigh and Bahrs Scrub area.
The Beenleigh-Bahrs Scrub East/West Transport Study aims to investigate bottlenecks and travel times for road users in the vicinity of Wuraga Road and Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road.
It will take into account environmental considerations, overall network functionality, road safety and constructability.
A Logan City Council spokesperson said officers will use community input from the study to help determine how Wuraga Road will be built.
The road has seen an increase in traffic volume that will continue into the future.
Infrastructure chair Teresa Lane said: “As the city grows it’s important that we continue to plan for the challenges and requirements of our future community.
“An initial planning study recommended a road alignment that linked Wuraga Road to a new four-way intersection at Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road and Mount Warren Boulevard.
“We listened to community feedback on this initial planning concept and are inviting further input, all of which will be incorporated into the wholistic assessment of alignments now commencing.”
Cr Lane said letters are being sent to potentially impacted residents in the study area to obtain their feedback for council consideration.
The wider community is also encouraged to participate in this road alignment options survey.
Cr Tony Hall urged residents to have their say.
“I know many residents have a passionate view on this issue so it’s important that Council gets to hear it,” Cr Hall said.
“Resident feedback already received has been valuable and community input from this broader engagement will be an important aspect in Council’s decision-making process for this road corridor.”
Cr Karen Murphy said community input is vital.
“Local knowledge is important when it comes to planning road projects and it’s important that we get it right,” Cr Murphy said.
The Beenleigh/Bahrs Scrub transport plan survey is open on council’s website until Friday, July 30.
