Man shot by police during Woodhill welfare check

A man has been taken to hospital after being shot by police during an incident at Woodhill on Friday night.

Queensland Police said officers were called to Caswell Road about 9pm on 26 June for a welfare check.

Officers were then allegedly confronted by a 41-year-old Woodhill man armed with a firearm, who advanced on officers before he was shot.

First aid was immediately provided to the 41-year-old at the scene.

The man was later airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

No police officers or members of the public were injured.

A crime scene was declared and police said there was no ongoing risk to public safety.

The matter is being investigated by the Ethical Standards Command, with oversight from the Crime and Corruption Commission.
